Placing your laundry center in the kitchen makes it convenient to do a quick load of wash while preparing a meal, but it’s hardly ideal or aesthetic. These Lafayette homeowners were ready to make a change. They came to Riverside Construction looking to convert an existing side patio into a new laundry room after living with their washer and dryer located in their kitchen.
Riverside designed and built a new utility room that featured new Corian countertops and a Mohawk DuraCeramic luxury vinyl tile floor. A brand new bank of upper and lower cabinets were designed into the space to provide plenty of hidden storage. Functional wire shelving was added above the washer and dryer for hanging clothes and easy access to cleaning solutions.
With the laundry room no longer located in the kitchen, Riverside was able to add a new set of upper and lower cabinets to the kitchen, which included a prep area and a second sink.
Special care was also taken to match the materials of the new addition to the existing finishes of the home for a seamless look.
