This West Lafayette couple came to Riverside with two “must-have” wish list items for their kitchen: 1) They needed more room to entertain, desiring an open concept floor plan that allowed for better workflow, traffic flow, and more dining space for friends and family; and 2) Much needed storage, which included expanding the size of their existing pantry.
Riverside started the remodel by expanding the kitchen’s footprint and designing a 6-foot addition at the front of the house. The existing windows were shortened to allow for a new perimeter bank of Wellborn Select Harmony Maple cabinets finished in a ‘Drift’ stain that wrapped around the entire kitchen and gave the couple additional storage. The home addition also made room for a new functional center island finished with the same Wellborn cabinets but finished in a contrasting ‘Shadow’ stain. A favorite feature of the island is the built-in microwave drawer that makes for easy access but also stays out of site. Two full banks of floor-to-ceiling cabinets were then added to the pantry, giving our clients the additional storage space they asked for.
Warm, neutral colors were chosen to create a welcoming space, which was complemented by a selection of Cosmos Quartz countertops in ‘Matterhorn,’ under cabinet lighting, a Kichler brushed nickel three-light chandelier over the island and two Kichler mini-pendants on either side of the granite composite sink.
The once narrow kitchen entrance was significantly expanded to improve traffic flow. Two square pillars now frame the entrance adding a striking visual interest to the room, and new Anatolia Regency Sand floor tile was laid to seamlessly blend the kitchen and dining areas together.
These West Lafayette homeowners couldn’t be more thrilled with their new kitchen addition and are looking forward to sharing their new space with friends and family, for many years to come.
