These Lafayette homeowners came to Riverside Construction looking for a remodeling solution to their small kitchen that felt cramped and congested, especially when more than one cook was in the kitchen or any of the appliances were in use, like the refrigerator and dishwasher.
Thinking that they would keep the same footprint while trying to improve the kitchen’s functionality and increased storage capacity, they were presented with an alternative design solution after meeting with Riverside Construction. Due to space constraints in the original location, Riverside’s design team showed them how moving the kitchen into the existing dining space could be an ideal solution. After seeing the new design, the clients immediately adopted the new plan.
The load-bearing wall between the existing dining room and kitchen was removed and replaced with a large support beam to open up the space. Riverside Construction capitalized on the 9-foot ceilings by disguising the support beam with trim and adding similar-looking beams as a design feature across the rest of the ceiling for visual interest.
The existing cabinets were replaced with new white Showplace EVO cabinetry in an Edgewater door style. A long narrow island was designed into the kitchen to increase prep and storage space. The cabinets were topped with Silestone Blanco Orion Quartz countertops and complemented with a Daltile Minute Mosaix™ tile backsplash in a Chenille White herringbone. Creating a natural flow between the rooms, Riverside laid CoreTec Bastion Elm luxury vinyl flooring. Finally, black hardware, new appliances, and contemporary glass pendants round out this incredible kitchen transformation.
The clients are in love with their much larger kitchen and dining room, complete with the function, flow, and storage they were craving.
