For this primary bathroom remodel on Jennings Street in West Lafayette, the homeowners were looking for a significant change. The bathroom was awkwardly laid out and lacked sufficient storage. A massage therapist herself, it was particularly important for this client to have a zen-like bathroom with spa-like features.
Making better use of the existing footprint, Riverside took space from an existing linen closet that opened into the hallway and made room to create a gorgeous open shower with a river rock floor and earth-toned tile.
Drawn to today’s modern trends and finishes, the homeowners chose Daltile flooring, granite countertops and Delta and Pfister fixtures.
The client coveted a Japanese-style soaking tub but discovered that it was too costly. As a creative solution, Riverside gave her the look of a Japanese-style tub by dropping in a standard bathtub and raising it and adding two steps that serve multiple purposes. A functional nook above the tub was finished with small river rock that added to the spa-like ambiance.
We shifted the location of the toilet a few inches, which made room for a new small cabinet next to it. The cabinet was designed for storage and a functional drop zone when entering the bathroom.
The builder-grade vanity was replaced with Wellborn select Style Cherry cabinets finished in a Natural stain and included additional drawers for concealing personal items. Extra storage was conveniently created by installing a pantry cabinet behind the door for linens and open shelving for displaying plants and other accessories.
A stunning spa-inspired space perfect for unwinding after a long day.
