A family’s needs can change over time, which is exactly what happened to this West Lafayette couple shortly after they moved into their new home. Suddenly needing to accommodate a live-in parent and a daughter who needed her own space, they sought remodeling expertise from Riverside Construction. They wanted to convert a large unfinished basement into a finished one—one that was already prepped for a bedroom with an egress window for safety and plumbing for a bathroom. The complete basement renovation included a bedroom, bathroom, office, and secondary living space.
With the basement renovation needing to blend seamlessly with the rest of the home, Riverside took great care to incorporate key elements of the home including rustic decorative wood beams and wood trim detail. The new basement bathroom features Wellborn Select Series Millbrook vanity in maple with a spiceberry stain. The countertop is designed with a cultured marble latte granite and a forest-inspired wallpaper backsplash. The walls are painted in a Sherwin Williams ‘softened green’, and the floor is finished in Marazzi American Estates Natural 6 x 36 tile. Pale green walls and beige carpet round out the secondary living room space.
For the daughter’s new living space, Riverside designed a girl’s dream bedroom with rose pink and gray walls, plush beige carpet, and a crystal chandelier adding the perfect amount of glitz and glam. An unused corner was converted into a second closet to house the daughter’s art supplies, and a large custom walk-in closet was designed into the space to include plenty of shelving and storage capacity for clothing and personal items. An unfinished basement is the perfect home addition and offers you a way to customize your needs to your specifications exactly.
