This West Lafayette family needed additional space for their four children and their friends to hangout. The main goal was to make this basement a fun place to play and entertain. The kids love basketball so a pseudo in-door basketball court was in order, particularly for keeping them active during the cold winter months. They also wanted to incorporate a theater that functions as a game room, playing life-sized video games. A full bath and separate exercise room was also added.
Custom rift cut oak cabinets with Granite pergaminho counter tops were used throughout the basement. Thick earth toned carpet was used in the main theater and living area for added warmth and comfort. In the basketball court we used a glued down durable luxury vinyl tile that would take the abuse of the basketball court. A wall of padding was put up to protect the wall and the kids during intense games of basketball.
A control 4 automation system was used to integrate the lighting, audio, and video systems. The advantage of this setup is that you can turn off all the lights with one button at the top of the stairs. Super handy when the kids leave the lights on.
