Like many of us, this family’s kitchen is the heart of their home—it’s where they entertain small or large groups of people, congregate as a family, and savor the flavors, colors, and textures of a variety of foods through the enjoyment of cooking and baking. However, no longer functional, they desired an inspirational space that felt more open and welcoming, with plenty of additional storage and ample countertop space.
Riverside started by removing the pony wall that separated the kitchen from the living room. This opened up the room, improved the traffic flow, and maximized the square footage. Changing the footprint also allowed Riverside to design a large center island into the new space, which provided additional storage options and plenty of new workspace for food prep, as well as additional seating. By removing a small pantry, Riverside was able to replace it with a large bank of Wellborn shaker style cabinets that ran almost to the ceiling and contained many convenient custom pull-outs and custom storage solutions this family needed.
Features of this modern makeover include a fresh white subway tile backsplash with a herringbone pattern accent piece, and a beautiful, decorative range hood. The kitchen was designed with a functional 5-burner flat cooktop, stainless steel wall oven and microwave combination, pantry cabinet and glass bubble pendants.
This West Lafayette family couldn’t be happier with their newly revived kitchen, which they now share with friends and family as much as they can.
