With plans to age in the comforts of their home for many years to come, this Lafayette couple knew they needed to make some changes—looking to maximize convenience, accessibility, flexibility, and beauty. For starters, the condition of their old master bathroom was small and inefficient. Their existing space lacked space and versatility. As a result, good design, specifically universal design, was incorporated into their plans for building a two-story addition.
With an emphasis on creating a supportive environment that would alleviate long-term challenges, the new master suite included a large soaking tub and an oversized glass-enclosed shower with dual shower heads, built-in shelving, and bench seating. The old bathroom was also converted into a spacious walk-in closet, creating the ideal “his and hers” clothing areas and the new second-story space will be used as a home office.
