There's nothing like curling up next to a warm fireplace on a cold, rainy or snowy day. Not only can they add extra heat to a cold room, but they also add extra "warmth" to your home.If you currently don't have a fireplace in your home you have a lot of options to add one. You can choose to add something as easy as a pre assembled electric fireplace that requires only an outlet and no venting to work or something a little more complicated like a vented gas or electric fireplace, similar to this fireplace we recently added to a client's home. Either can add value and warmth to your home. In either case please make sure to follow the directions carefully if you are installing it yourself and get professional help when installing a vented fireplace to prevent a fire hazard.If you currently have a fireplace in your home you can update it by adding a new surround or mantle, painting the surround you have or adding new tiles around or in front of your fireplace. Sometimes something as simple as adding a new piece of art or another type of focal piece on your mantle can go a long way to updating the look of your fireplace.Please however keep in mind that fireplaces can potentially pose a hazard and need to properly maintained.
