The homeowners sought to update their primary bathroom to better suit their needs and lifestyle. The existing space was outdated, cramped, and lacked the modern features they desired. Their primary goals included expanding the shower, improving functionality with custom storage, adding heated tile floors for comfort, and incorporating stylish yet timeless design elements. Accessibility and durability were also important considerations for the remodel.
The remodel transformed the primary bathroom into a spacious, spa-like retreat. The fiberglass shower was replaced with a larger, fully tiled walk-in shower featuring fishscale tiles on the walls for a unique and luxurious texture. The shower floor was finished with 2x2 mosaic tiles, and a large niche was included to provide ample storage for toiletries. A sturdy teak corner bench was added for both comfort and functionality, with additional blocking installed for future grab bars.
The flooring was upgraded to heated 12x24 tiles laid in a 1/3 staggered pattern, providing both warmth and a contemporary aesthetic. Wainscoting with fishscale tiles extended partway up the walls, adding depth and sophistication to the overall look.
A custom vanity in a dark blue finish was paired with a quartz countertop and undermount sink, blending style and practicality. A new mirror, brushed nickel fixtures, and updated lighting completed the fresh look. The walls were painted a soft teal, adding a pop of color and creating a calming and cohesive atmosphere.
The completed remodel delivers a modern and functional primary bathroom tailored to the homeowners' needs. The expanded shower, heated tile floors, and custom vanity elevate the space, while the unique fishscale tile and thoughtful color choices add a luxurious touch. The homeowners now enjoy a spa-inspired retreat that combines style, comfort, and long-term usability.
